Sprint Launches IoT Marketplace Available to Partners

Sprint is introducing an online marketplace for internet-of-things (IoT) solutions.

The wireless carrier announced its IoT Factory, a digital store with boxed IoT offerings. More than 550,000 developers have contributed to the products, and Sprint has partnered with myDevices and The Goldie Group to launch the marketplace. myDevices delivers the boxed solutions, and The Goldie Group provides telecom services that scale the IoT connectivity.

Sprint bills the solutions as easily customized and installed.

“From family-owned restaurants, medical companies to heavy equipment fleet operators and everything in between, the Sprint IoT Factory is giving business owners the power to easily enhance operations – using IoT technology to track assets and connect what’s most important to them,” said Ivo Rook, Sprint’s senior vice president of IoT. “We’re excited about the effect this has on small and medium-sized businesses. They can now attain the latest in advanced and secure technology at reasonable costs — with the ease of being able to buy a complete solution from the digital store, having it shipped quickly and installing it themselves within a matter of minutes.”

Businesses can buy the IoT offerings directly, but Sprint says the marketplace will also “enable channel partners, wholesalers, system integrators and others to buy solutions as resellers.”

Sprint has taken important steps this year in developing new offerings that partners can sell. It launched a unified communications platform last month, mobility and security partnerships in February and an SD-WAN offering last year.

The company also has big picture plans, with a pending merger with T-Mobile and a developing 5G network.
